The Chief Justice has said that if the negotiations on the issue of simultaneous elections in the country fail, the court will not sit with the decision of May 14.

According to ARY News, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the requests to hold elections simultaneously across the country. A 3-member special bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, comprising Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar, conducted the hearing.

At the beginning of the hearing, Farooq H. Naik, the lawyer of the ruling coalition parties, requested the Supreme Court to give more time for negotiations, while PTI's lawyer, Barrister Ali Zafar, asked the Supreme Court on its order to hold elections in Punjab on May 14. Requested for implementation.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice also heard the stand of the leaders of PML-N and PTI and the lawyers of the parties also gave arguments. During this time, he had many conversations with the Chief Justice, while the Chief Justice also gave strong remarks.

Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, while remarking on the request of the government, said that it is a matter of implementation of the constitution with national and public importance and the court has decided to hold elections in 90 days. Heard the position of both sides on TV last night, if the negotiations fail, the court will not sit on the decision of May 14.

Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial said that along with economic, political, social and security crises, there is also a constitutional crisis in the country. 8 people were martyred yesterday. The government and the opposition have to be serious. He also said that politics has entered the court proceedings, we will not respond to politics, we have taken an oath before Allah to defend the constitution.

He said that the court only wants to do its duty and follow its decision according to the constitution. According to the constitution, the constitution can be used to implement the decision.

The Chief Justice had further said that if the matter is left to the political parties, should the law not be implemented, should the court turn a blind eye to the public interest? Supreme is the person of Allah alone and the government is bound to implement the court orders. Court is showing patience but it should not be considered as our weakness. If the youths of the nation have sacrificed, then we are also ready to sacrifice. And will not hesitate to make sacrifices to implement the law
